Proprietors Tracey and Dean Shipley fell in love with mazes over 16 years ago after visiting the Ashcome Maze on the Mornington Peninsular, since then they have visited many other mazes with their children Candice, Ben, Jack and Sam and got hooked to the point that they decided to plant one of their own. After finding the perfect 6 acre block in 2003 the dream of becoming keepers of their own maze was one step closer. Dean and Tracey are both avid gardeners and love to spend their time in the garden and over the past 5 years have spent every spare moment creating not only the maze but a maze of walled gardens. Tracey a hairdresser by trade has become the local Edward scissor hands and has created numerous large feature topiaries throughout the gardens for you to discover, Dean a plumber by trade has developed many of the feature gardens and has a love of perfumed roses with over 200 roses now planted throughout the gardens.
Candice and Ben are both grown up now and live in Sydney but love to come and visit and see the progress and growth of the gardens. Jack 15 and Sam 12 are very much a part of the whole process as still young they soon tell us what they like and dislike about ideas to implement around the gardens that will appeal to the young. Sam loves to paint and tells us that his inspiration comes from the colours and plants in the garden and has sold many of his paintings. Dean is also a fully qualified fitness instructor and holds group fitness classes at the High Country Maze for more information click here.
